Job Description
American Express is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to become a part of the U.S. Regulatory Reporting team, Controllership department. This position involves supporting the company as it undergoes a change to a higher category of regulation, with added supervision and requirements. Congressman will be a member of the new Exam and Review Preparedness team, which is charged with compliance with U.S. Federal and State regulatory requirements, as well as leadership and internal processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the establishment of the Exam and Review Preparedness team’s governance and design.
- Implement an evaluation system of the exam and review readiness to access requirements and solutions.
- Predict questions of the examiner, prepare responses, and also prepare the training/storyboard material.
- Examine regulatory documentation requests and establish the level of submissions.
- Observe and follow up on exam requests, preparations for updates, and maintenance of an archive.
- Cooperate in the creation of MRA/MRIA remediation plans and aid in closing them.
- Work with other teams in the organization to prepare for the exam and improve the process.
- Help by taking part in the process of automation, the building of stronger controls, and the production of more documentation.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in Accounting, Reporting, or Auditing.
- Deep understanding of U.S. Regulatory and U.S. GAAP requirements.
- The capacity to juggle several assignments and still meet a tight deadline.
- Top-notch communication, presentation, and teamwork skills.
Desired Competencies
- Some work background dealing with authorities and preparing external reports in the banking/financial services sector.
- Familiarity with reports such as FR Y-9C, FFIEC 031 Call Report, or FR 2052a.
- Knowledge of regulatory inspections.
- Postgraduate degree, CPA/CA credential, or a similar qualification.
