Lead Mainframe Developer

Cognizant is a company that is looking for a lead mainframe developer (technical lead) to be a member of the Cards and Payments unit, a diverse team in the Cards and Payments domain. As part of this hybrid role, you will be using your knowledge of IBM Mainframe technologies. FileAids, CICS, and DB2, among others, to produce solutions and carry out their implementations. Besides, you will be greatly involved in activities such as integration, upgradation of system performance, as well as guidance to junior developers for doing their routine work, and at the same time being innovative in terms of business growth and positive impact on society.

Key Responsibilities

• The mainframe solutions will be engineered to use FileAids as well as IBM Mainframe Utilities in a way that they will be robust in nature, both from a design perspective and implementation.
• Furthermore, you are to ensure application development and maintenance are performed successfully via SPUFI, Endevor, and CICS.
• In addition, managing the data and the resulting process will be done by using VSAM and JCL in a way that is effective and efficient for data handling.
• Involved as the main person who builds and deploys IT solutions by using COBOL to be compliant with the business requirement through productive interactions with other department members, such as business analysts, QA testers, designers, and clients.
• Another important thing would be to achieve the good DB2 performance goals while making the environment as secure and as easy to use as possible.
• Besides that, you have to work on the testing, debugging, and issue resolution of mainframe applications on the IBM Mainframe platform.
• Along with this responsibility, you will be mentoring junior developers to engage them in the learning process and also in sharing what they know with other team members.
• Be responsible for contact with cutting-edge experts and upcoming technologies in order to incorporate new tech in the organization.

Qualifications

• Has the strength of a seasoned person, with hands-on experience with FileAids and IBM Mainframe Utilities, along with CICS.
• Moreover, work steadily on application development, taking SPUFI, Endevor, and VSAM as main references, in which you have deep knowledge and significant success.
• Skilled with JCL and DB2 to optimize data management. Knowledge of Cobol programming and have managed enterprise projects successfully.
• Having worked in the Cards and Payments sector would be a great asset.
• Capable of succeeding in a mixed work environment (work from home and at the office).
• Possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
